About Me

Hey,

My name is Matt and I'm an aspiring developer. By day I'm a SQL guy, working with Transact-SQL on various versions Micrsoft SQL Server. By night I dabble with all sorts.

When I was a nipper I was exposed to the world of BASIC in a couple of different flavours. At home it was on the Sinclair ZX81 (and later the Spectrum range), followed by GWBASIC on MS-DOS. At school it was BBC Basic (because I was a school kid in the 80s in the UK!).

I spent years honing my skills in HTML, CSS and Javascript, which I was luckily allowed to then transfer to jobs I held at the time. I quickly got a taste for making web-based games in JS using frameworks such as PhaserJS too.

Making games was not a new pursuit for me either. I had, years previously, had a go at using C# and the XNA platform to make Xbox games, however I never got as far as publishing anything, and had played around with many tools over the years such as AMOS and ShootEmUp Construction Kit (on the Amiga 500), Klik'n'Play, GameMaker and RPGMaker.

More recently I have been working on games in Godot engine, using the native GDScript language, which is a lot of fun.

Additionally I love playing around with Python and it's various libraries to manipulate data, access APIs, and all the other crazy cool stuff it can do.

This blog is my way of documenting the random little projects I work on just in case it comes in useful in the future, for me or anyone else.

Enjoy :)

Matt
